客家，係唯一不以地域命名个汉族民系

係世界上分布范围广阔、影响深远个民系之一

一般认为，西晋永嘉之乱、东晋五胡乱华

中原民族大举南迁。其中一部分抵达粤赣闽三地交界处。

与当地土著雜居，互通婚姻，经过千年演化，

最迟在南宋已形成了相对稳定的客家民系

此后，客家人又以梅州、惠州、汀州、赣州、韶关、

河源等地为基地，大量外迁到中国大陆各省市、港澳台

和南洋乃至世界各地，福建省宁化县石壁村

传说係客家民系形成的中心地域，被称为“客家祖地”
